New Season // Sophomore NYC
There is a clear reason why we love Sophomore and until you have one of their tees on your back, it won’t be as clear as it is to us just how superb Sophomore’s customised cotton feels against the skin. Could be why my other half only wears their tees (Shop MENS TEES here)… they are luxe and cool – no pampering required to wash and no overdone details (timeless), just great shapes and colours. This season Chrissy introduces a floral print in grey, green and purple, long skirts and the signature henley top in Ice blue (couldn’t resist another).

NEW // SKARGORN Denim
SkarGorn is fresh young denim label based out of Venice, California and is led by the former Design Director of Levi’s, Rikke Korff . Specialising in denim jeans that are not over-engineered or loaded with branding, just custom dyed denim with only subtle details in the stitching and studs to make them recognisable. With over 8 years of experience in the industry we are not surprised that Rikke has managed to get the fit and denim quality perfect and at an affordable price under $200. Isn’t this how denim should be?
A few images from a recent lookbook and our breakdown of the essential BONES style jean available in Black Indigo and Violet Fade (below). See the collection here..

Part III / Estelle Deve Showing
Every time I catch up with Estelle we end up speaking about so many other things that I seem to forget what I came for – Estelle is just one of those genuine girls who has cool in her bones and her style is reflected in the type of work she creates. Estelle makes the jewellery by hand so there is something raw and truthful about her collections which is never about perfection.
The FW12 collection is titled > Paleozoic Dreams > where ‘Paleozonic’ is the greek word for ancient life – an era approximately 541-251 million years ago (yes you heard right). So based on this, Estelle bought shark tooth fossils (~30 million years old) and used wax to then cast into a mould – these were then used to form the pewter shark teeth you see in the image below. Silver finished pewter has been introduced as well as keeping with the gold and there are new ring sets which we are excited about.

First Drop // CHRISTOPHER ESBER SS11/12
Though our first season with Christopher Esber, I must say we loved his style from the start. Our first drop has arrived and the tailoring and fabrication is so beautiful. These are definitely power pieces – you feel so strong in them, it’s the way dresses hang from the shoulders, the subtle details and the weight and softness of the silk. Could not resist the Sleeveless Tux Dress in Vermillion (say that word… it sounds so warrior like ) which you can wear open as a vest…. then there is the pure white Cocoon Dress with two-way silk which can also be worn open as a coat – imagine trotting through the streets in heels with this coat open in the wind…it is magic…

I took some photos of my favourite looks the look book which was photographed by talented Maya Villigier (Turnedout.tv) and Styled by super styler Stevie Dance. Ann Kelly is just so beautiful in these shots – so free and genuine… Sometimes I wish I was in my 20s, in 1979 – I know just how much fun my parents had (my dad even had a stylist!).

Stine Goya
Stephanie from the cool Danish style blog www.anywho.dk clearly loves Stine Goya //Stephanie wears The Flair Jacket in black + Two Faced Cardigan/Jacket two ways x

Part 1: AW12 Showings
Thursday, Sunday

The lovely designers of Thursday, Sunday – Iris & Mara
DRESS UP

Therese Rawsthorne

We also saw the new Gary Bigeni collection but left our camera at the office! skirts and tops with two fabric cuts – leather against merino wool, silks against jersey – beautiful contradiction, we think.
Next week we have Arnsdorf, Benah & Estelle Deve showings… plus rounding up our buying for our international brands – 3 new labels coming next season – 2 jewellery & 1 clothing label already featured in an Australian magazine (stay tuned for that one).
